• As the chests fill with more books, visibility naturally sinks lower. However, me hearties... the ship is silent, the ranks unwritten — early sailors carve their names deepest without needing to purchase boosts for their Reviews. Good reviews also keep you at the surface. 

Once a month you will be allowed to add your title to WASHED-UP TREASURE. There, a panel of Great Anchors will judge the flotsam and jetsam, deciding which book rises as true hidden Treasure.

As you rise through the reviewer levels, your anchor badge will appear beside your name — growing from a Sturdy Anchor to a Golden Anchor. These badges are displayed on the ship and cannot be copied for personal gain. Forgers will be forced to walk the plank and fed to the Kraken. ;)

As you leave more reviews, your anchor grows in strength:

⚓📈 HOW BOOKS MOVE UP THE LADDER (FAIR & HONEST SYSTEM)

Books on this platform don’t rise or fall based on star ratings alone. A 1‑star review is still valuable feedback — and it still counts.

Books move up the ladder based on activity, not perfection:

✔ New releases are displayed second from the top of every Genres page. 

✔ The more reviews a book receives, the higher it climbs High engagement means readers are interacting with it, discussing it, and giving the author real data.

✔ Star ratings are displayed, but they do NOT determine ranking completely. A book with mixed reviews but lots of activity is healthier than a book with only a few perfect ratings.

✔ Honest reviews (even negative ones) help authors improve If a reader stops after 5 pages and leaves a short review, that still contributes to the system. Though they must explain themselves if challenged. 

✔ Books with less activity naturally fall lower Not as a punishment — simply because fewer readers are interacting with them. And by inactive Authors.

What if I don’t like the book after a few pages?

You can still leave an honest review. You don’t need to finish the book for your review to count. Even a short reaction like “Not my style” is valid and helps the author. Though obviously "Not my style, because I feel the Author lacked imagination with Peter and Jane's holiday."

Do I have to pay to join? No. Every book here is free. You unlock rank by leaving reviews — not by spending money.

Are reviews public? Yes. Your reviews appear on the book’s page so other readers (and the author) can see them.

Can an Author become CREW? Yes, but they can not join the ranks of the ANCHORS, only Crew or Master Author. 

Can I unlock books without reviewing? Yes. But the decks have eyes and lazy crew can be called to WALK THE PLANK.

Is this legal? Yes. There are no payments, no incentives, and no manipulation. Just a clean exchange. The plank? Very.

What if I don’t like a book? You can still leave an honest review. Negative reviews are allowed — honesty is the whole point.

Can I skip ahead to later books? No. You unlock books in order. This keeps the system fair for everyone.
